Brides love to look different, to express their inner personalities through their choice of garment. To be a bride no longer means what it used to, when the white signified virginity and utter purity in one so young. Now, it is merely the color of a dress that signifies a change in status, from being an unattached woman, not quite so single, to one who is bound to another by law. Religious ceremonies are often foregone these days as well, or if they occur, it is merely to keep traditions and not as much faith-based. With so many changes in meaning with so many aspects of one’s marriage, it is important to have the gowns we wear to our special day, that very big day when you tie the know, so to speak, and make your partner your mate for life… or at least until the divorce papers are signed. The fashions have also changed with the times, with some of the more free spirited labels picking up on interesting ways to deviate from the official traditions and offer something more unique to the couple itself. The Free People Bohemian Bridal 2015 collection does exactly that, taking into account a soul that loves to roam free, and a couple’s need for open pastures and wide blue seas before them.
The latest in bridal collections for Free People takes a bohemian spin on things and gives us lace, denim and ruffles to soothe the needs of a fairy tale wedding without the pomp and glamour. There are 15 pieces in this line-up called “FPEverAfter” and each is priced between $700 and $1600, less than what you may have otherwise paid for a relatively quality lesser-known designer gown. It is now available on the Free People online page, as models Hana Jirickova and Carola Remer traipse about in dreamy bohemian bridal looks.
We see pieces with tight bodies that flare into strips of organza, wrapping about the legs beautifully. Non-traditional looks are also a dime a dozen as we see gorgeous free-flowing material in a golden creamy color worn as a jumpsuit bridal outfit, hair braided down one shoulder with pearly flowers added in, halter top and long hem giving it a lovely appeal. Denim is an interesting choice when it comes to wedding day outfits, with Free People offering His and Hers matching designs that read “Until Death Do Us Part” or “Forever Yours” messages. Add gauzy dresses underneath and you have a more Western style look that would look amazing if the wedding ceremony were to take place in fields of wheat or a desert setting, the sun directly overhead. Long maxi gowns with flowing trains and swooping backs give the bride a rather ethereal look as well, with the Heavens smiling down their blessing. Add white lace with long, rippling sleeves and an equally long tail to the dress and you have an exquisite beach gown ready to show off her angelic silhouette against the setting sun.
